You could see the war room lean forward. Jaylin Simpson at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If Milton III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Zach Frazier in No. 55 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Braelon Allen at the 87th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Johnny Wilson at slot 120, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
McKinnley Jackson in Round 5, Pick 22 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Walter Rouse in the 174th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Joe Milton III at pick No. 184 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Jaylin Simpson still on the board at pick 198. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
