The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Trevor Keegan slide 65 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Somehow Ja'Tavion Sanders was still sitting there in pick 64, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malik Washington at the Round 3 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Brandon Coleman in No. 131 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Javon Solomon all the way to the 159th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The roster logic is harder to follow.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tyrone Tracy Jr. in Round 5, Pick 37, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trevor Keegan at the 221st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
