Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ryan Watts got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the 255th pick. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Reaching for Okie-Anoma left real value on the table behind him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a building block for the line, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at pick 41 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid a round early for Ja'Lynn Polk in pick No. 58, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Kris Abrams-Draine at Round 3, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Calen Bullock in slot 91. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reach on Christian Jones in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
A conviction pick on Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 169 that the board grades a round light. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A slide stopped in the 202nd pick, with Isaiah Williams worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at Round 6, Pick 44 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
