Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jasheen Davis at the 209th overall pick is 92 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Brooks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Luther Burden III in No. 19; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tyleik Williams at the 44th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Watts at pick 76 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Connor Colby this early at the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Tahj Brooks in Round 5, Pick 31, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Jay Higgins still on the board at pick No. 170. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nick Nash at the 171st overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
CJ West in Round 6, Pick 12 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jasheen Davis in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached into another round for Jamaree Caldwell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
