Somebody in Round 3, Pick 33 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Omarion Hampton, the No. 18 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.
The back end got a real overhaul.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Omarion Hampton at the 97th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Jake Majors in pick No. 138 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a safety like Billy Bowman Jr. reach Round 5, Pick 22 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
