The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Reaching for Colby left real value on the table behind him. The Gillotte pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
They took Keon Coleman at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Chris Braswell in No. 44 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Calen Bullock at the 47th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Malachi Corley at slot 70 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good price on Ja'Lynn Polk in pick No. 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Matt Goncalves in pick 106 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Connor Colby in the 143rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ashton Gillotte in No. 184 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
