If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Giants, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. However the rest shakes out, Turner at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Dallas Turner come to them and pounced at the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brian Thomas Jr.. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went DT-EDGE with Maason Smith while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots sat open.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 108 with a little surplus value in Cam Hart. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at slot 143 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Cody Schrader in pick No. 184 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
