If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Giants, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The Milton pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Jaxon Smith-Njigba pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Kamari Lassiter in the 39th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let J.J. McCarthy come to them and pounced at No. 47. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and Kamren Kinchens was the payoff at slot 70. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Isaiah Adams slid further than he should have, and pick No. 135 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Fabien Lovett in Round 5, Pick 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 6 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kendall Milton in Round 6, Pick 33 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
