The Giants went off the board in a big way for Frank Gore Jr., 22 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Chris Braswell at pick No. 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Kalen King at the 47th pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Haynes a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Blake Fisher at slot 107 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They talked themselves into Frank Gore Jr. at the 143rd overall pick, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Sam Hartman in pick No. 185 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
