Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Bassa: B.

Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 120 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.27 · Pick 59 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 24
A linebacker of that caliber at the 59th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Josh Conerly Jr. · OT · rank 45
Josh Conerly Jr. in pick No. 91 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.12 · Pick 113 · Sebastian Castro · S · rank 87
Steal is underselling it; Sebastian Castro at No. 113 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.9 · Pick 146 · Deontae Lawson · LB · rank 81
Deontae Lawson in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R5.25 · Pick 162 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 73
They robbed the room for Quinshon Judkins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Theo Wease Jr. · WR · rank 199
Theo Wease Jr. in pick 202 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.36 · Pick 211 · Jeffrey Bassa · LB · rank 120
Jeffrey Bassa in slot 211 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.19 · Pick 235 · Clay Webb · OG · rank 218
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 19, where Clay Webb graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · Nick Nash · WR · rank 246
They took Nick Nash at par in pick No. 246, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
