For all the boxes ticked, the Giants skipped the loudest one: safety is exactly as bare as it was.
The cost of the Corum reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They banked enough surplus on Davis to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Fautanu in the 39th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Ennis Rakestraw Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Blake Corum at No. 70 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Tyler Davis, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Javion Cohen at Round 5, Pick 7 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaylen Harrell at pick No. 185 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
