Nobody had Ty'Ron Hopper this high, and it is not close. The Dolphins reached 52 spots to get him at the Round 4 slot.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Landing Newton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Adisa Isaac at No. 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Kiran Amegadjie in Round 3, Pick 6, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Chau Smith-Wade in the 109th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached into another round for Ty'Ron Hopper, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the 158th pick with a little surplus value in Kitan Oladapo. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach on Kendall Milton in the 184th pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Delmar Glaze at the 198th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
