Somewhere a general manager is explaining how J.J. McCarthy got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at pick 70.
A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. Adding Javon Kinlaw by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Fair-plus on Kalen King, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking J.J. McCarthy in pick No. 70 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zak Zinter in slot 98. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
DeWayne Carter at Round 4, Pick 7 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Daijun Edwards at par in pick 131, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a wide receiver like Malik Washington reach No. 143 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Ethan Driskell in slot 185; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
