The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Put together, it is a D.
The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
The Bishop value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with safety the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Devontez Walker in slot 47 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Josh Newton at Round 3, Pick 4 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Ricky Pearsall at pick No. 70 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Blake Fisher was the payoff at No. 107. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nice patience on Cole Bishop, who had no business lasting to the 143rd overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kimani Vidal at pick 185 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
