Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Giants to leave a draft.
The Mims steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Adding T.J. Slaton by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Reaching for Allen left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Amarius Mims in the 39th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Calen Bullock at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Josh Newton in slot 59; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brenden Rice. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Gabriel Murphy at No. 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Michael Pratt in the 107th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in slot 143, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Aki Ogunbiyi went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 10. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
