The Dolphins' one glaring miss is quarterback, a need they left exactly as they found it. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Clark pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Guyton. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kiran Amegadjie in the 53rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at the 67th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in slot 102, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Kitan Oladapo at pick No. 158, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid a round early for De'Corian Clark in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Braiden McGregor went about where he belonged in pick 199. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 22 with a little surplus value in Maurice Smith. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
