The Giants lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Booker pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Oladapo.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Xavier Legette at pick 39 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
T.J. Tampa at slot 47 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Brandon Dorlus slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 4 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Johnny Wilson at the 70th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had Blake Fisher higher than No. 107, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Austin Booker in the Round 5 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kitan Oladapo at pick No. 185 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
