Thirty-one other rooms let Michael Penix Jr. slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at the 47th overall pick. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Michael Penix Jr. at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
DJ James in pick No. 70 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good price on DeWayne Carter in slot 107, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and James Williams at No. 141 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kitan Oladapo at Round 6, Pick 8 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
