The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named interior defensive lineman, a need the Giants walked right past. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
On value alone, Arnold makes the weekend a net positive. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a bendy edge with upside. A real need, handled.
Terrion Arnold at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at the 44th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at pick No. 47 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Javon Bullard at Round 3, Pick 6 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Johnny Wilson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in slot 107; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cooper Beebe at the 112th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Travis went about where he belonged in slot 143. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Theo Johnson in No. 150, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Aki Ogunbiyi in the 185th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
