After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Dorlus where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Guyton in pick 39 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Xavier Worthy in pick No. 47, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Brandon Dorlus higher than No. 70, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Khyree Jackson at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cole Bishop in the 122nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Braelon Allen in slot 143 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for Austin Booker at the 146th pick when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Curtis Jacobs at the 185th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
