If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Giants, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
They banked enough surplus on Liufau to cover a lot of smaller sins. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Will Hernandez gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Bralen Trice slid further than he should have, and pick No. 35 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordan Morgan at No. 39. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Devontez Walker in Round 2, Pick 15, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Javon Bullard in pick 66; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Byron Murphy II at slot 70 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Mahogany at the 85th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Marist Liufau for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid a round early for Khyree Jackson in pick 107, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kedon Slovis in pick No. 143. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for AJ Barner in the 185th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
