The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Hall has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The Elliss pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Emeka Egbuka in No. 35 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Graham Barton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Kalen King went about where he belonged in the 47th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jonah Elliss at pick No. 69. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in pick 103; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cooper Beebe at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaden Hicks slipping to the 142nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Gabe Hall at slot 183 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
