The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: Raheim Sanders, the No. 147 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 35 like a gift left on the doorstep.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The Tylan Grable pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nick Emmanwori at pick 27 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Jalon Walker at No. 49 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jake Majors in pick No. 98 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Deontae Lawson in slot 99 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Luke Kandra at the 107th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cam Skattebo in the 116th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in Round 5, Pick 15, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Jaeden Roberts in the 154th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Xavier Nwankpa in pick No. 224 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They robbed the room for Karene Reid here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Raheim Sanders at the 251st pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
