Priorities are a choice, and the Packers made a strange one, taking Calen Bullock at safety in slot 51 with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots crying out for the pick instead.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 19 they get a ballhawk on the back end at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Good price on Nate Wiggins in pick No. 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A curious use of No. 51. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Calen Bullock did not.
TreVeyon Henderson at the 83rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Dominick Puni at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Junior Colson in slot 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Cade Stover went about where he belonged in pick 135. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
