The Dolphins put a flag in the ground for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, 51 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Dolphins clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Value with a capital V on Kris Jenkins in slot 55, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Jonah Elliss enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 82. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cedric Gray at the 101st overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Chau Smith-Wade in the 102nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Kitan Oladapo. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Kendall Milton at pick 184 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A wild overpay on Eyabi Okie-Anoma in Round 7, Pick 14, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Anim Dankwah in the 251st overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
