The phones were a trap the Dolphins kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Watts reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Coleman.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
A reach on Bralen Trice in pick No. 55; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Keon Coleman in the 65th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for McKinnley Jackson in the 111th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had cheaper options than Cedric Gray at No. 117, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A slide stopped in pick 157, with Jarrian Jones worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They jumped the gun on Kendall Milton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Eric Watts in the 183rd pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
