Somebody took the Giants to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Ford falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dallas Turner at No. 37 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Emeka Egbuka in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kalen King at pick No. 47 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Kingsley Suamataia, who had no business lasting to pick 69. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Ruke Orhorhoro went about where he belonged in the 75th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Braelon Allen in the 105th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cade Stover in Round 5, Pick 6. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylan Ford at pick No. 183 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
