The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chargers left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Jones steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at fair value. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Troy Franklin in pick No. 37. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Junior Colson at slot 69 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Khyree Jackson at pick 106 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Jarrian Jones, who had no business lasting to No. 139. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on LaDarius Henderson in Round 6, Pick 8, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tanor Bortolini. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Trey Taylor in the 256th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
