When a board-topper like Garret Greenfield slides to No. 245, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Jefferson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 22
In pick No. 25 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 51
A clean, defensible pick in the 58th overall pick with a little surplus value in T.J. Tampa. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 86
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at slot 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 92
They paid sticker price for Gabriel Murphy in pick 91, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Elijah Jones in Round 4, Pick 26. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 184
Jordan Jefferson at the 169th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 186
Cornelius Johnson slid further than he should have, and No. 202 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 198
Somehow Curtis Jacobs was still sitting there in slot 219, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
Garret Greenfield in No. 245 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jordan Whittington · WR · rank 248
A tidy little value on Jordan Whittington in Round 7, Pick 35, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
