You build a draft on nights like this. Danny Stutsman had no business being available in the 195th pick, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. With cornerback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the back end at a price that makes it sweeter.
Jalon Walker in pick 60 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Somehow Tyler Warren was still sitting there in No. 92, and they pounced on premier tight end value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A want over a need in the 132nd pick: Deontae Lawson adds a linebacker while cornerback, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Evan Stewart in Round 5, Pick 19 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Mason Taylor in slot 161, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jake Majors at pick No. 190 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Danny Stutsman at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
