The rest of the league will want that one back. Ray Davis tumbling to the Chiefs in the 173rd pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Patrick Paul at Round 2, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cade Stover in the 95th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Elijah Jones in slot 132. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Johnny Wilson still on the board at the 159th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ray Davis at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
