This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: JC Latham, the No. 16 name on the board, stolen at the 37th overall pick.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Ratledge reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Taking JC Latham in No. 37 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Kalen King in the 47th overall pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kris Jenkins slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 5 is lovely value for the edge rusher. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tate Ratledge in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mohamed Kamara at pick No. 142 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Malachi Moore higher than slot 183, and the safety fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
