The Giants lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Put together, it is a D-.
They have staked the next five years on Drake Maye, which is the only story that really matters here. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Every board in the league had Mahogany lower, and that gap is the story.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Johnny Wilson in pick 34. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Nate Wiggins in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Chris Braswell in No. 47 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Christian Mahogany at pick No. 70 is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Matt Goncalves at the 106th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Shemar Turner at the 143rd pick. The roster fit checks out.
They jumped the gun on Brevyn Spann-Ford, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
