Thirty-one other rooms let Cam Skattebo slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at the 168th overall pick. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The cost of the Burch reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Burch. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at the 76th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ajani Cornelius at the 95th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Joshua Gray at slot 132 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Cam Skattebo at pick No. 168 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Jaeden Roberts is a better player than No. 171 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Deion Burks. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
