You build a draft on nights like this. Cody Simon had no business being available in pick 235, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: tight end settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 27 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Circle this one: Dylan Fairchild at No. 79 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at slot 146 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Taking Nicholas Singleton in pick 202 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Cody Simon still on the board at the Round 7 slot. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Terrance Ferguson in the 246th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
