This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kaden Wetjen, the No. 223 name on the board, stolen at No. 248. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Allar lower, and that gap is the story.
They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 24th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Brandon Cisse at the 39th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mike Washington Jr. in slot 70 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Markel Bell. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Drew Allar at No. 146 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaeden Roberts in Round 5, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Taylen Green in pick 206 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Kaden Wetjen in the 248th pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
