They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Isaac Rex, 91 picks early at pick No. 231. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Michael Penix Jr. gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They banked enough surplus on Hunt to cover a lot of smaller sins.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Jordan Morgan at the 38th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Caelen Carson is a better player than pick 103 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Somehow Jalyx Hunt was still sitting there in the 180th overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cornelius Johnson at No. 193 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Isaac Rex at No. 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Frank Gore Jr. in Round 7, Pick 35 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
