Call it larceny. Fabien Lovett sat on the board until pick 245, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every board in the league had Bortolini lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Value with a capital V on Tyler Guyton in slot 41, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick 58: Kris Jenkins for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Javon Bullard here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cooper Beebe at the 91st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Isaac Guerendo in the 126th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tanor Bortolini in No. 169 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nathaniel Watson at the Round 6 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Magee at the 219th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Fabien Lovett in pick 245 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Sheridan Jones in the 255th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
