There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Commanders never got to the one that mattered most.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Fisher reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
Keionte Scott slid further than he should have, and slot 71 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Benson at pick No. 147 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Matt Gulbin at No. 187 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jeff Caldwell at pick 209. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Aiden Fisher at the 223rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
