Some picks age like wine; Cooper Mays at Round 6, Pick 33 will need to, sitting 84 spots clear of his grade.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jeanty. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Deone Walker in the 44th overall pick, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Savion Williams in pick No. 76 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach for RJ Harvey in No. 150; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, DJ Giddens in pick 170. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nazir Stackhouse at Round 5, Pick 33 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jay Higgins at the 174th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Shilo Sanders this early at Round 6, Pick 12. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A big swing on Cooper Mays at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Marcus Yarns at pick 249 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
