Boards are made to be trusted, and the Eagles shredded theirs for Le'Veon Moss. He came off 24 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Hill Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Value with a capital V on Anthony Hill Jr. in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Eli Stowers slipping to pick 68 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sam Hecht in the 98th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in No. 122, with Ted Hurst worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jakobe Thomas at slot 137 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Charles Demmings was the payoff at slot 153. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Le'Veon Moss at Round 5, Pick 38, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Fa'alili Fa'amoe in pick No. 215 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
