Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Zion Logue at slot 243 is 46 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 25
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 43
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 57
Kamren Kinchens in the 58th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 94
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in No. 91, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Josh Newton · CB · rank 123
A clean, defensible pick in the 127th pick with a little surplus value in Josh Newton. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 164
Good price on Luke McCaffrey in slot 168, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 214
They went early on Josh Proctor in the 204th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Andrew Raym · C · rank 233
Andrew Raym in pick No. 216 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 289
Zion Logue at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Jalen Coker · WR · rank 258
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Coker. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
