When a board-topper like Isaiah Davis slides to pick 202, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a building block for the line at a price that makes it sweeter.
They took Tyler Nubin at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Payton Wilson in the 58th pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Austin Booker slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 25 is lovely value for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Max Melton at slot 91 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaac Guerendo at pick 126 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Javion Cohen in pick No. 169 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Isaiah Davis at No. 202 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylan Ford at Round 6, Pick 44. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Josh Proctor at slot 245 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Bub Means at No. 255 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
