You could see the war room lean forward. Marist Liufau at pick 202 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Davis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Payton Wilson at Round 2, Pick 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in pick No. 88. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cole Bishop at the 91st pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaiah Davis well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Tanor Bortolini at No. 169, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Marist Liufau was still sitting there in slot 202, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Josh Proctor at slot 219 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
