Green Bay Packers

More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it.

The Packers torched the value chart for Josh Proctor, taking him 25 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 18
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 9 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
Kingsley Suamataia in the 58th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
They did well to land Jaden Hicks in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
They took Isaac Guerendo at par in No. 126, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 187
Tanor Bortolini in the 169th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Javontae Jean-Baptiste · DE-EDGE · rank 217
The board had cheaper options than Javontae Jean-Baptiste at pick 202, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 244
They talked themselves into Josh Proctor at Round 6, Pick 44, and the board did not agree. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
