The Packers went off the board in a big way for Andrew Raym, 31 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Landing Ford that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cooper Beebe well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A conviction pick on Trey Benson at the 88th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dominick Puni at slot 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Cedric Gray at Round 4, Pick 27 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They did well to land Luke McCaffrey in pick 168, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
A real head-scratcher, Andrew Raym in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Jaylan Ford all the way to No. 216, and they scooped it up. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They paid a round early for Josh Wallace in Round 7, Pick 23, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Khalid Duke this early at slot 251. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
