The Patriots put a flag in the ground for Adam Randall, 64 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Klare to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keyron Crawford in the Round 2 slot, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Max Klare at slot 95 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Isaiah World at the 125th pick, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
They went early on Jakobe Thomas in the 131st overall pick, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Ar'maj Reed-Adams in pick No. 171, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Fair-plus on Ephesians Prysock, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A real head-scratcher, Jimmy Rolder in No. 198 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Aiden Fisher at Round 6, Pick 21 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Value said wait; Adam Randall in slot 212 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Haynes King at the 247th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
