There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chargers took Jermayne Lole a full 63 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a security blanket over the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Troy Franklin at No. 37 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mike Sainristil at pick 69 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Drake Nugent at the 106th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Braelon Allen at pick No. 139 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
LaDarius Henderson at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, J.J. Weaver in slot 223 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jermayne Lole in the 256th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
