The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 154th overall pick on Ricky Pearsall a full 46 spots early. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 27th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Brian Thomas Jr. in slot 49, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Will Shipley at No. 92 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
