The war room fell hard for Julius Welschof, and it showed at pick 247: 108 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Edwards steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a bendy edge with upside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 24 they get a double-digit-sack hope, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Xavier Legette at slot 58 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Shemar Turner in the 90th overall pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Donovan Edwards at No. 123 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 163rd pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ja'Had Carter in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
